The lettuce head consists of three outer leaves and three leaves inside the lettuce, which are typically folded into one another like a rosette. The lettuce leaves are bright green and turn a little light green at the base of the stem. The leaves have the wavy edges typical of lettuce as well as natural leaf veins and can therefore hardly be distinguished from real lettuce leaves.
