This wooden or wine barrel made of unpainted oak, supplied with a stand, is a masterpiece of craftsmanship! It was made by skilled craftsmen in the traditional way from the wood of the North Caucasian oak, which grows in the vast forests of the North Caucasus in Russia. The high-quality and robust wood of the 80 to 100-year-old oak is air-dried for 2 years before it is handcrafted into a high-quality barrel with galvanized barrel rings and beeswax-processed taps. Dimensional tolerances and unevenness are not a defect, but merely testify to the masterful coopers' art.
If the wooden barrel partially takes on the color of the liquid, for example through red wine, it gives it a rustic, quaint appearance. In addition, the wooden barrel has an untreated surface, so that tannins are given off, especially in wine that is stored in it. These provide a characteristic, rough note of dryness and thus influence the taste in a positive way. The fine oak wood aroma is one of the reasons why it is worth purchasing such an oak barrel!
The noble wine or wooden barrel is available with a stand, barrel bung, tap and 4-fold strapping. With a diameter of around 23 centimeters, it is around 24 centimeters high and holds around 5 liters. Toasting, i.e. burning out the inside of the barrel, was carried out with the medium roasting degree, which also affects the taste of the liquid contained in the barrel.
